Babysitting Experiences

Babysitter

I’m 17, been babysitting for about three years now. just recently i babysat my neighbors child. I was told to expect the worse because he was such a hyperactive child. but he was very well eehaved and a good listener. I even got him to go to bed fifteen minutes early because i read him a story. Now if only all the kids would act this way. :)

Glad to have found ”the family”

After years of doing mother’s helper gigs with some great kids, I finally became old enough to do real, actual babysitting. After being hired by a few nice couples, I was suddenly hired by another. Looking after an adorable, happy 7 month old boy who has some fantastic parents to work for makes me feel great!!

My ”not-so-wonderful” experience!

Ok, so once when I was doing a ”spur-of-the-moment-because-no-one-else-could” babysitting job, I was having my ”monthly.” As I was hurriedly getting ready to go, I forgot probably the most important thing. A pad or a tampon. Smart, right? lol when I got there, and the parents had left, I realized this, and had to call my parents. (Who would really want to babysit with this kind of problem, right?) Well, I hobbled around the house, making dinner and making sure that the kids didn’t start fighting. Finally my dad shows up and I become the happiest camper on that block. My personal experience, ”When you are having your monthly, remember pads and tampons!” ugh lol!

Bad Dog and Trouble with Mail

Ok, so I was babysitting this absolutely adorable little baby boy. His parents had been gone for like 3.5 hours. It was nearing 9:30, and they were already 1/2 an hour late. Then, the worst thing happened… the dog had to pee. The baby hates his playpen, but I had nowhere else to put him, so in he went. He started screaming, and I took the dog out. The dog finished his business and we came inside, I took his leash off, and he almost ran out the door. But I stopped him, and got the kid out of the playpen, as I let the kid start crawling around, the mailman showed up, dropped and dropped the mail through the slot, which then of course landed on… the baby. TERRIBLE night…

Don’t open doors for strangers!

I was babysitting 2 boys and they were fighting then the door bell rang i looked out the window to see a older man with a binder in his hand. I unlocked the door but left the latch on so it would not open all the way. He demanded my parents,  I told him there were busy… and it went on and on and then he said are you sure they are home or are you a babysitter? I closed the door and locked it, told the kids to go upstairs in their bedrooms, and grabbed the phone. Then I opened the door again and said “If you do not leave the property i will call the cops!” – it worked – but he was hanging around the street for a couple of hours. I also think he was drunk because it was 10:30 at night.
